About Our Pigs

At any given time, we have around 500 pigs at the ranch.

We feed our pigs a non-GMO grain from Bonita Bean along with wheat germ from Hayden Mills. The pigs do not receive any soy feed.

All pigs are processed under USDA standards at the University of Arizona Meat Lab.

Current heritage breeds include:

  • Hampshire. Possibly the oldest, early-American breed of hog in existence today.

  • Berkshire. Rare breed of pig originating from the English county of Berkshire.

  • Tamworth. Among the oldest of pig breeds, and not well suited to modern production methods.

  • Mangalica. A special Hungarian breed the was close to extinction before being saved. Considered among the tastiest pork in the world.

  • Red Waddle. Known for hardiness, foraging activity, and rapid growth rate. Produces a lean, flavorful and tender meat.

  • Duroc. Second most recorded breed of swine in the United States and a major breed in many other countries.
